General Information


It is an offence to carry alcoholic drink around the Showground.  Drinking in public places, especially in the avenues, is an evictable offence and members will run the additional risk of having their membership cancelled.

No exhibitor or competitor should consume alcohol until his or her competition has ended.  Individuals or teams who ignore this ruling risk being banned.

Cash dispensers will be available at the HSBC Bank Plc Pavilion and Barclays Bank Plc Pavilion.  Further automated cash machines will be situated by Entrances A & D and the Fur & Feather Pavilion.

Bio Security & Zoonoses

The Society has adopted the motto of ‘be seen to be clean’ and asks that the public and exhibitors alike give their full co-operation.

Entry to the main parts of the cloven-hoofed livestock and poultry areas will be across disinfected mats.  Please ensure your footwear is visibly clean on ENTRY TO and EXIT FROM the livestock areas.

Please make sure you wash your hands with soap and water after visiting the animal areas and before eating. The hand-washing facilities are located in all toilets around the showground.  Additional external handwashing facilities will also be in place in the livestock area.


The Chaplaincy team are available 24 hrs a day; from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm offering help and advice and from 8.00 pm to 8.00 am for urgent assistance and in case of an emergency, the contact number is: 0845 367 9990.  The Chaplaincy Centre is situated in the room off the foyer in the Clwyd Glamorgan Hall.  The Christian Centre for Rural Wales is situated upstairs in the Clwyd Glamorgan Hall.

Cystadleuaeth Celf a Dylunio i Blant / Children’s Art and Design Competition

Children between the age of five and fourteen representing schools across Wales were invited to design a Christmas card to be reproduced as the Society’s official card for 2017.  Winning entries will be on display at the Western Power Distribution tradestand E364.  The presentation to prizewinners will take place on the stand on Tuesday 25th July at 11.00 am.

Poultry and Pigeons - Monday, 12.30 pm – 7.00 pm and Tuesday, 9.00 am – 3.45 pm
Young members are encouraged to become involved in this wonderful hobby in order to ensure its continued development.

Rabbits - Wednesday, 10.30 am – 4.30 pm
This section is very popular with children and adults.  Expert stewards are on hand to answer any queries you may have on the many breeds of rabbits on display.

Pets and Cavies - Thursday, 10.00 am – 4.30 pm
The section gives young people an introduction to the showing of small animals and the experience of becoming Stewards and even Judges of the future.

Examples of children’s work can also be viewed within the Homecrafts section situated in the South Glamorgan Exhibition Hall.

Cystadleuaeth Ffotograffig i Ysgolion / Schools Photographic Competition

This competition has been promoted by the Society’s Forestry Committee.  The photographs are to depict ‘Activities in the Woodland.’  The competition was open to Primary and Secondary Schools.  The presentation of awards will take place at 11.00 am on Thursday 27th July and Mr Nigel Owens, Professional Referee, WRU will be present.

Cystadleuaeth Whilber/Berfa Addurnedig / Decorated Wheelbarrow Competition
Kindly sponsored by Mr Fothergill’s Seeds Ltd
This competition has been organised by the Society’s Horticulture Committee.  A wheelbarrow planted with flowers and/or fruit and/or vegetables depicting a story from a Beatrix Potter book.  Open to Primary Schools only.  Exhibits will be on display in the Horticulture Marquee.  The presentation of awards will take place on Thursday 27th July at 12.15 pm in the Horticulture Marquee.

Y Garddwr Ifanc / Young Gardener
An interactive opportunity for children of all ages to learn where their food comes from and how to grow their own vegetables etc. Have a go at planting seeds, potting plants and making a floral arrangement. Please see timetable within the Horticulture Marquee for timed activities.

Dinosaur School Workshop, The TRex, Raptor, Spinosauraus and Trixie the Triceratops will appear twice a day.

Cyfleusterau Newid Babanod / Baby Changing Facilities
Baby changing facilities are provided in the following toilet blocks: adjacent to the Goat Ring, Horse Ring, Main Ring Underpass, Montgomery Pavilion and South Glamorgan Exhibition Hall.  Facilities are also available on the Society stand E361.

Plant Ar Goll / Lost Children

The Lost Child Marquee will operate between 9.30 am - 7.30 pm.  Thereafter, lost children are cared for by the Police, at Entrance A.
A missing child should be reported to the Police Office at Entrance A or the RWAS Headquarters (Tel: 01982 553683).

Plant Anabl / Disabled Children
The Society will provide a marquee and facilities to change and feed physically disabled children situated next to Stand No. E362.

Cadeiriau Gwthio / Pushchairs
For Health and Safety reasons, pushchairs are strictly not allowed in the Cattle Buildings and the Grandstand.
Visitors will be able to leave pushchairs in the marquee opposite the Grandstand - Stand No. E363 (Avenue E) and in the Cattle Foreman’s hut. This service, opposite the Grandstand, is provided by Girlguiding Cymru; no charge is made, but donations to the organisation would be much appreciated.  Property is left at your own risk.

Art and craft activities for young children will be held daily, and a playground for children under 8 years old will be situated in front of our marquee in the Forestry Area.



With the exception of assistance dogs, NO dogs will be permitted within the Showground perimeter fence. NO ASSISTANCE DOGS are allowed in any buildings/areas containing live animals, the South Glamorgan Exhibition Hall, Grandstand, Members’ Pavilions, Fur & Feather Pavilion, Clwyd Glamorgan Hall, Food Hall or any of the Society’s Dining areas.  Please do not leave dogs in cars.

A lost child should be taken immediately to the Lost Child Marquee situated in Avenue E at the rear of the Grandstand, or a Police Officer in uniform either on the site or within the Police Office at Entrance A, the RWAS Headquarters, or handed over to a Society official.
The Lost Child Marquee will operate between 9.30 am - 7.30 pm.  Thereafter, lost children are cared for by the Police, at Entrance A.
A missing child should be reported to the Police Office at Entrance A or the RWAS Headquarters (Tel: 01982 553683).

Lost Property

Any lost property which is found during the Show will be passed on to the Police based at Entrance A.  If you have lost any items, please report the loss to the Police at Entrance A.

Main Ring Grandstand

For non members there is a charge of £5.00 per seat, if room in the public areas.  It is not possible to reserve seats in advance.  Seats in the public section may be purchased on Show days from 7.30 am.

Areas will be reserved at the northern and southern ends of the Grandstand for those confined to wheelchairs.  Access to the various sections of the Grandstand has been improved.

Membership Booths

Membership can be purchased from the Membership Booths situated at Entrances A & C and at Tŷ Ynys Môn - opposite the Montgomery Pavilion.  The Membership Booth at Entrance C will be open from 12.00 noon – 6.00 pm on Sunday 23rd July.  All Membership Booths will be open during the Show days.

Photographs & Filming

Please be aware that photographs and film will be taken throughout the showground for broadcast, publicity and marketing purposes.

Shopping Bag Crèches

Shopping bag crèches will be provided at Entrance A Stand No. D340, and by the Machinery Pedestrian Entrance Stand No. A61 operated by Girlguiding Cymru between 8.30 am – 7.00 pm.  Please note these will be operated within the Welcome Centres.  A food crèche will operate in the Food Hall between 9.00 am – 6.00 pm daily.  Please use these facilities to secure any bulky items.

Trophy Room

The RWAS Trophy room, located in the Clwyd Glamorgan Hall (entrance opposite the NSA Pavilion), will be open from 8.00 am – 5.00 pm each day.  The room houses 125 of the Society’s trophies which no longer leave the showground, instead, exhibitors receive an RWAS memento, however, their names continue to be engraved on the trophies.  Please come and view this wonderful display.

Welcome Centres / Information Booths

Welcome Centre pavilions will be situated at Entrances A & M which will also include information booths to be run by Girlguiding Cymru.  These will be open from 8.30 am – 7.00 pm.  Two additional information booths will also be available at the Main Ring Underpass and next to the Grandstand.  The booths will be open from 8.30 am – 5.00 pm and also run by Girlguiding Cymru.  Information can also be obtained at the Show Shop under the Grandstand.  Please refer to shopping bag crèches for additional information.


During the Show there will be seven areas around the showground where show-goers will be able to access the internet for free. You will be able to find these hotspots in the following areas:

• Near the bandstand
• Hafod a Hendre
• Members Centre
• Neuadd Henllan (stockman’s accommodation)
• Central seated section of the Main Ring grandstand
• The junction between the Food Hall and the Meirion Shearing Centre
• The grass bank over-looking the Main Ring next to the S4C Pavilion

Internet users will have to be within 25m of the hotspot signs to be in the best range of the Wi-Fi signals.
