Cattle Breed Society Competition open to Rare & Native British Breeds

Once again in 2013, a Cattle Breed Society Competition is being held for Rare & Native British Breeds only. Please take the opportunity to visit this section and learn more about our rare & native British breeds of cattle.

The presentation of the awards will take place on the winning stands at approximately 2.00pm on Saturday, 18th May 2013




Ancient Cattle of Wales

Come and see traditional coloured Welsh cattle – our forgotten national treasure.


Welsh Black Cattle Society

The Welsh Black Cattle are Wales’ only native breed.  A super suckler beef breed with excellent eating quality, ideal for smallholdings and farms.  A docile, hardy breed with longevity traits and renown for its foraging ability.


Murray Grey Beef Cattle Society

Medium sized suckler cow, easy calving, naturally polled.  Finish calves on forage systems.  Excellent tenderness and marbling producing high eating quality meat.


Highland Cattle Club of Wales

HCCW will display a pedigree Highland cow with calf at foot.  Club members will be available throughout the Festival to discuss aspects of Highland cattle ownership and how they suit smallholders and farmers alike.


Powys Hereford Breeders Club

Display stand featuring posters and promotional materials.
