Royal Welsh new exhibition of innovation in agriculture
29 May 2013
The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society is launching an exhibition of innovation in agriculture for the first time at the 2013 Royal Welsh Show (July 22-25). The exhibition which is being developed in partnership with the Welsh Government Farming Connect Programme aims to promote and encourage innovation in UK agriculture and to facilitate the uptake of new technologies by transferring latest research to grass roots level.
RWAS board chairman and farmer John T Davies said: “The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and a vibrant rural economy in Wales for over a century since its formation in 1904, and we are very pleased to launch this new initiative at a time when the need for new research, technology and innovation in agriculture and for dissemination of this information to the industry has never been greater. The global food production system will face significant challenges in the first half of the 21st century and farmers in Wales will need to look at opportunities to produce more whilst reducing the negative impact on the environment. These new challenges must be met through the development of new technologies and their application to agriculture.”
The exhibition will take place in the Green Pavilion and will include both the exhibition and a speaker programme. The society is offering interested individuals, companies and organisations involved in research, product development or with an innovative idea the opportunity to take part.
Successful applicants will be provided with space to exhibit within the exhibition, which will be branded and marketed as the Tomorrow-Today Exhibition. There will also be the opportunity to provide speakers for short presentations of 20 minutes within the Speaker Programme.
The space will be available for the full four days of the show at a reduced fee. Interested parties are invited to submit completed application forms by Friday, June 7 2013. Application forms are available on the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society website www.rwas.co.uk and also on the Farming Connect website www.farmingconnect.menterabusnes.co.uk/farmingconnect
