Carmarthenshire student wins RWAS prize
A student from Carmarthenshire is this year’s winner of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society – Harper Cymry Student Award introduced in 1999 to encourage students from Wales at Harper Adams University to contribute fully to developing both their academic and personal potential.

Alun Rees of Brecon Road, Llandovery, becomes the 14th winner of the award which is promoted jointly by the Royal Welsh and Harper Adams, which is the largest institution of its kind in the UK.

The award recognises the student with the best academic record allied to a positive contribution to the broader student learning environment of the college through its clubs and societies and other extra mural activities.

The award also embraces the part played by the student in the activities of Harper Cymry, the college-based club for students from Wales.  When interviewing the candidates for the award, the adjudicators also look for the student who has the clearest thought-out career plans.
