The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society all set to switch to .cymru and .wales

24 July 2014

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society will adopt the new .cymru and .wales domain names when they become available later this year.

It was with great pleasure that David Lewis, Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Chair of Council announced yesterday (Wednesday 23 July) at the Royal Welsh Show that the society will be a founder partner in the programme and will be switching to .cymru and .wales domain names in the autumn.

Mr Lewis said: “Once again the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society is leading the way in adopting new technologies and ways of working. Our digital presence is increasing daily and we want to firmly establish ourselves as a proud and successful Welsh organisation.

“The new .cymru .wales domain names provide an excellent opportunity for Wales to make its mark on the digital world and for Welsh businesses and organisations to make the most of their Welsh identity.”

S4C, the National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (Wales YFC) also announced at the show their decision to join the society, the Welsh Government and other founder partners in switching to .cymru and .wales domain names.

Jo Golley Nominet’s Commercial Director for Wales said "The Royal Welsh is such an iconic brand, we are absolutely delighted that the society has decided to adopt the .cymru .wales internet domains. They are leading the way, as so often before, in giving rural Wales a clear and modern identity. We have had a fantastic response from the businesses and organisations at the show. This announcement is a huge endorsement to the possibilities .cymru .wales bring to the Welsh agricultural economy."
