Later this month, a picturesque corner of North West Pembrokeshire will play host to the 55th All Wales Ploughing and Hedging Championships.
Being held on Saturday 27 September at Penfeidr Farm, Castlemorris, Haverfordwest, by kind permission of Messrs. Raymond, this year’s championships will be hosted by the Letterston and District Ploughing Society.
The day will see hedging and fencing competitions along with 12 ploughing competitions featuring world ploughing style classes, vintage and classic classes and horse ploughing competitions. This year a special feature to encourage entries from younger competitors will be a junior class for those aged under 18 on the day of the championships.
This year there are nearly 100 entries from across the UK and the competition is set to be hotly contested with competitors from the recent Six Nation Championships, World Ploughing Contest and European Vintage Ploughing Championships all taking part.
Visitors will also be able to take advantage of the trade stands, have a go at a clay pigeon shoot and see the display of vintage and classic tractors and witness the challenger tractor pull.
The local committee is led by chairman, William Miles, who is very much looking forward to the event “We are very pleased and privileged to be able to host the 55th All Wales Ploughing and Hedging Championships and are looking forward to welcoming everyone here on the 27th September.”
