Royal Welsh Winter Fair will light up the night sky

6 November 2015

With the Winter Fair nearly upon us, local school children and their families have enjoyed a preview evening of the eagerly anticipated Nightglow display which will form part of the entertainment on the Monday night of the fair.

Being held on Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 December, the annual Royal Welsh Winter Fair kicks off the festive season in style and is a major attraction for both agricultural enthusiasts and the discerning Christmas shopper alike.

Local primary schoolchildren enjoy a preview of the hot air balloons featuring in the Nightglow display at this year’s Winter Fair.

Following the success of last year, the fair will once again be opening its doors to the public for free after 4pm on the Monday evening for a late night Christmas shopping evening.

Visitors on Monday evening will also be able to enjoy looking around the demonstrations and exhibitions, listening to the choirs and bands performing throughout the showground, and of course our younger visitors may also be lucky enough to meet Father Christmas (in Tŷ Ynys Môn from 4.30pm – 6pm).

But the highlight of the evening will be as night falls. At 6.30pm the spectacular nightglow display will begin in the showground’s main ring. Made up of a group of impressive and imposing hot air balloons, the display will light up the night sky in time to music for an hour long spectacle visible from across the showground.

During the preview evening local families were invited to get up close, and even have a play inside, one of the hot air balloons that will be taking part in the Nightglow display.

Having enjoyed a warming cup of hot chocolate, the children braved the rain and watched as the burners were lit, dramatically lighting up the showground. A great sneak preview of what will be on offer, albeit bigger and better, at the fair on the Monday evening.

Widely referred to as the finest prime stock show in Europe, the Winter Fair has a packed schedule of competitions, classes, exhibitions and displays, together with the very best Welsh food producers in the food hall and Christmas farmers market, and hundreds of tradestands to explore.
