Côr Glanaethwy

Monday, November 28th Côr Glanaethwy will travel to the Winter Fair in Builth Wells to perform songs from their new album – Haleliwia.  During recent months choir members have been busy recording new material , with the 160 members gathering at Ysgol Brynrefail over two day to record, along with a few extra sessions at Sain studios, Llandwrog.  As part of the school’s 25th anniversary celebrations in 2015, Ysgol Glanaethwy travelled to the Welsh colony of Patagonia  in Argentina, competed at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Choir of the Year, and Britain’s Got Talent, and met with great success. The Senior choir won in the open category at Llangollen while the Junior choir won their category in the Choir of the Year competition. The tour of Patagonia, culminating in a performance at the Buenos Aires Cathedral was another high point in a memorable year. And following their success in Britain’s Got Talent, they went on a tour of Britain’s major concert venues. In the coming year, the choir will travel to New York to perform Karl Jenkins’ Cantata Memoria at the Carnegie Hall, thus continuing their world-wide appeal which has seen them attract over 20 million views on YouTube! Their young members now hope that their followers will appreciate this latest collection of songs old and new, in sombre and joyful mood and in many genres.

Piantel

Tuesday, November 29th Piantel will release their new collection that celebrates 10 years of performing as a duo -  a selection of tracks from their three previous albums plus four new recordings.  The two unique talents which make up the harp/piano duo Piantel are among Wales’ most prolific performers, and it is this close rapport with their audiences which gives such dynamism to their performance, and which also guides their choice of material. The songs and melodies on this new collection come from diverse sources – from the musicals and pop charts as well as from classical composers and Welsh traditional folk music, but in the hands of Annette and Dylan, they all succeed to pull at our heartstrings. Whatever your taste in music, this eclectic collection of great melodies will stir your blood and soothe your soul in equal measure.
