Welcoming Overseas Visitors

Wales is known around the world for extending a warm welcome to visitors and the Royal Welsh Show is no exception.

The show every year extends a very warm welcome to its many overseas visitors at its International Pavilion throughout the four days of the show.

During the 2015 show we surveyed our International Pavilion visitors to better understand their needs. We welcomed over 1000 guests to the pavilion from 34 countries, many of whom come to the Show year after year and have become friends.

The Royal Welsh show is one of the leading agricultural shows in the world with specific focus on showcasing the cream of Welsh livestock.  It was not surprising to find that our international visitor’s number 1 reason for attending the show was to see the Welsh Cobs and Ponies closely followed by the many cattle and sheep breeds.  The Royal Welsh Show is the only place in the world to see the very best of livestock gathered together for 4 days.

We identified some areas for improvement but the overwhelming feedback was hugely positive. “Just wonderful”, “Perfect do not change”, “Everything is perfect. Love it!”, “It is the event of the year all people are talking about”.

As an overseas visitor whether you are visiting the show for business or pleasure you are invited to visit the International Pavilion where in addition to a very warm welcome you will find:

• Knowledgeable show stewards with a variety of language skills
• Guidance to help you make the most of your show visit
• A complimentary copy of the show guide
• Space to relax and meet friends old and new
• A meeting place for your group or family
• Free refreshments – Morning coffee, lunch snacks and afternoon tea
• Internet facilities
• Electrical supply to recharge phones and tablets
• A place to network or meet other overseas visitors
• A small business meeting room available for private meetings
• Toilet facilities

If you are an overseas visitor please come and register at the International Pavilion located on Avenue K, where you will be given an International Visitor badge allowing free access to the International Pavilion throughout the show.
We look forward to meeting you during your visit at the International Pavilion.

Additional information on planning your visit

Tickets for the show can be bought in advance or on the day at the gate.

A major finding of our overseas visitor research was that many could benefit from becoming members of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. We found visitors were staying for 2, 3 or even 4 days of the show to be able to fully appreciate everything on show in which case by becoming a member they could potentially  save money and gain from the many members’ benefits to make the experience even better!

Overseas visitors are welcome to become Members of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. You may especially want to consider this if you are visiting for more than a day or are looking to entertain during the show. Members receive many benefits including free access to the show, use of the members dining pavilions and free access to the members section of the grandstand. Find out more about being a member.

There are many excellent accommodation options. More information can be found here.
