Royal Welsh Show Arts Competition

Capture ‘The Show’, the variety, excitement, atmosphere and soul of the event. Showcasing the passion and pride of the rural community of Wales.

The Society has a long history with fine art and many pieces adorn the walls within the site but never before have we engaged in the Arts in this way. We pride ourselves as being the shop window for the agricultural industry and we have unrivalled coverage in the media and television. We want to celebrate all that the Welsh Countryside has to offer including those talents’ that record and capture the essence of a given subject through the form of artist expression.

2019 will see our 100th Show. Although it will be the 114th year of the Society we have not always been able to hold the show, with the most recent example being in 2001 in the year of Foot and Mouth. The RWAS has a strong and dedicated following and we have survived through many hard times. We want to celebrate this achievement with a record of the Show’s success.  We are putting together a special show itinerary and want to engage with all aspects of the countryside. Part of the Society’s objectives is to promote rural arts, culture and heritage. We hope this competition will engage a wider audience than ever before across all sectors of rural life.

The artworks will be put up for a public vote through our social media channels and our newsletters and we will also host an art exhibition at our Winter Fair event. The winning piece as voted for by the public will then be translated into our commemorative merchandise for the 100th Show in 2019. This is a fantastic opportunity for all those artists involved to gain exposure and recognition at this high profile event. The winner will of course be credited on the merchandise and throughout our publications for 2019.
