Vintage Machinery Display

Carmarthenshire has a very proud heritage of vintage enthusiasts and this includes our President, Brian Jones and he was very keen to ensure that each of the six vintage clubs had the opportunity to be represented at the Show. Our clubs include Carmarthen, Kidwelly, Ferryside, Tafarn y Cwm, Towy Valley and Llandovery.

In addition to the static display this year there will be a themed vintage parade in the cattle ring on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8.00 pm. Participating will be our President who will be driving a steam engine with our Lady Ambassador, Georgina Cornock-Evans.

The story will begin in the 1860`s with oxen and hand cart, through to heavy horses, the Welsh cob before conventional tractors as we know today were born. The agricultural revolution was coming to an end with the vintage traction engine, however the rapid mechanisation of agriculture followed in the first half of the twentieth century denoted by early tractors with implements ensuring our farmers fed the nation during the dark days of both world wars and up to the 1960`s. Participants will be in traditional costume and the event will include period music and commentary.

We hope very much that you enjoy this display.
