The county of Montgomeryshire boasts a very active vintage machinery scene with two thriving local clubs. Members’ interests include all things vintage and mechanical and ranges from tractors, farm implements, cars and commercials through to stationary engines and barn equipment.

The Mid-Wales Vintage Machinery Club Ltd was founded in 1977 by a group of seven enthusiasts and collectors dedicated to the preservation and restoration of old machinery. In addition to the predictable tractors and stationary engines, some members have cars, commercial vehicles and basically anything old, mechanical and interesting. The Mid-Wales Vintage Machinery Club Ltd has around 50 members and meetings are held at 8.00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Caersws Village Club.

The Montgomeryshire Vintage Club Ltd was founded in 1994 to cater for vintage enthusiasts in the East of the county. It too has 50 or so members and meetings are held at 7.30 pm on the first Thursday of each month at The COWSHACC, Welshpool. Prospective new members will be made very welcome. Items owned are similar to the first club with, at present, a predominance of tractors - but in both clubs the balance of tractors to engines and other items has fluctuated over the years.
